Our solar system

Kiora my name is Paula,

For the past couple of weeks, Room 6 and I have been learning about the solar system.

We learnt about the planets in the solar system.These are the planets we’ve learnt about – Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Our teacher told us to get in partners and pick a planet we’ve liked to do. Me and my partner (Ramsey) picked Mercury. It is the smallest planet in the whole solar system. Mercury is 58 million miles away from the sun. My partner Ramsey and I painted a polystyrene ball as the same colour as Mercury. After painting it we left it to dry. After 3 days Mrs Agnew gave us stickers to put on the ball and on the sticker we wrote the name of the planet we were doing. 

These are the facts about Mercury:

Reaches over 800 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s the fastest planet on rotation.

It has no moons.

There’s no atmosphere.

There are quakes on mercury.

Time moves a little slower there.

There are a few dents on mercury.

Two weeks ago room 6 and I was doing a Haiku Poem. The Haiku poem was professionally formed in Japan. There are 5 syllables at the start, 7 in the middle and another 5 in the third line. Our Haiku Poem was all about room 6’s swimming lessons.

Last Friday it was Mission day. I came to school in mufti. In the morning our Teacher Ms Kyle told Kava and I to put the tables and fishing equipment outside the class so we can get ready for Mission day. We did Mission day to raise money for the Holy Angels in india.

After Mass we opened up the fishing game. A Lot of people came to our fishing game. They were a lot better at fishing then I thought they would be. They got almost half of the fish that was in the bucket.

After morning tea we had a Break and kava and I went and brought lollies and a drink because we were thirsty and hungry. I was happy Mission day happened because we get to bring junk food to school.

Our lunch break was finished and Kava and I got back on our game. Kava and I made a lot of money from the game and Ms yumal collected the paper money. Ms Thompson counted all the money the people brought to school. She counted more than 1,000 dollars that we brang from home.

The bell rang and we had to pack the game up and bring it inside the classroom. After we took the tables inside we put the chairs and we watched a movie from the 90s. It was a very fun movie. It was about this young kid with his invisible dragon.

While we were watching the movie our Principal came to our class with ice blocks. I had two ice blocks, the other had 1 or two ice blocks. The bell rang again and we went home.

Last Thursday morning, Room 6 and Room 7 lined  up at the bottom court because we were going to learn the important things to do and wear when you’re on a bike. I Felt excited.

Our coaches were Lucy and Stephanie was our coach. She asked us if we were confident to ride the bikes by ourselves. Some people were learners so they went to the canopy.

Stephanie told us about the a b c for bikes. A – air B – brakes C – Chains D – direction D – drop test and Q – quick release x3 one on each tire and one under the bike. After we learned the a b c for the bikes we learnt how to scoot, glide, pedal and stop.

We had fun cycling around the bottom court in a line. We couldn’t pass one another. Later we learned how to put our hands out to signal where we were going. We also did some tricks like riding with no hands! We cycled around a square of cones and then Stephanie kept moving them around. If you got caught you had to help Stephanie to move the cones for the others.

I liked being on a bike again because I don’t have one at home at the moment. My cousin has one that I can ride. It was a fun day.
