Our Ki O Rahi tournament.

Yesterday we had a ki o rahi  tournament. First we had to change into our colors of PE clothes. Then we had to get into our houses and I am in TOTARA. It is yellow. We were versing all of the colors. Rata is red, Kauri is green and Rimu is blue. I was playing the 2nd or 3rd game. We were playing against Rimu. At the start of the game I snatched the tags off the players. I dived and took the tags off  lots of them. I was muddy when I ran to the circle and threw the ball at the tupu. I scored and I was proud of myself. The couch said it was half time.

In the 2nd half we were running with the ball and I ran with it. Then one of the people from the Rimu team ripped off my tag. We had 5 seconds to throw the ball to a teammate. I was so happy because they kept throwing the ball to me but then they kept taking my tag off. I was upset with that but I was still very happy. A big boy named Jacob kept scoring and he made our team win and I was still happy. Then we had to go to the canopy when it was finished. We had to thank the couch for teaching us Ki O Rahi and we were so happy they were here reffing for us.

ANZAC biscuits

On Thursday afternoon Mrs Agnew gave us Anzac biscuits. The ingredients on the packet were butter, flour, golden syrup, baking soda and coconut. In world war 1 from 1915 women baked Anzac biscuits for the New Zealand and Australian soldiers and nurses so they could have some treats. When I felt my Anzac biscuit it felt rocky and hard. It looked round  like a pancake, the moon, a ball and a hula hoop. It smelled yum, and tasted sweet like sugar.

My very own Filipino, Tongan and Samoan necklaces

This week during Cybersmart Mrs Grant said we were going to use Google Drawing to create something using shapes and colours. We got the idea from another school we saw. I used the flags and then put a necklace on them using scribble lines. It was fun.

175th Jubilee of St Patrick’s School and Parish

                                                                      175th Jubilee

On Friday I didn’t come to school because I was at my uncle’s house and we slept in. I am sad I missed the St Patrick’s Day celebration at school. I did come to the Sunday celebration at Mass with my siblings.

After mass we went to the hall to share a Maori dance for all of the people who always come to St Patrick’s church and the priests. We were singing and dancing, then the Tongan boys were dancing, then the Samoan people were doing their dance. My favorite part of the St Patrick’s celebration was doing the Maori dance. I hope they include all of the popes in the next time capsule for people in 25 years time to see who they were and also to check if we are still following Jesus.

Making a person with shapes

Today this morning Mrs Grant came to teach us how to use shapes to make people and I made this person. This is how to make a person. We had to go on shapes, then pick a happy face, then get a square and then put it down for the body. Then  press the lines to make the legs and then do little circles for the shoes. It was a bit tricky to do it but it’s very easy for me. Then I added a Tongan flag because that is my culture. Here is my Person and my Tongan flag.
